Summer is the right time to look after your home plumbing system at home. The weather is nice, and a lot of time to inspect your systems with late sunset times. It’s important to maintain your home plumbing systems on an annual basis, especially during the summer months. Plumbing issues increase when you start using tons of water and frequent toilet flushing.

We’ve prepared four tips to help you to make sure your home plumbing system is ready for summer.

1. Get the Classic Cub Plunger

To clean clogged toilets and sinks regularly, every home should have a cub plunger. Cub Plungers are super cheap to purchase and can easily be stored in the basement, closet, or garage. Most of the normal clogs in the bathroom, sinks, and toilets can be handled by a cub plunger. However, a cub plunger is not suitable for hard jobs and if things start to get messy, it’s time to call a professional plumber.

2. Look After your drains

Look after what goes down in your drain. For instance, your kitchen garbage disposal can’t process every scrap of food waste. To prevent this, use a plastic drain filter or a stainless-steel mesh strainer in the kitchen sink.

For bathrooms, use a pair of tweezers to pull out hair build-up in the sinks and bathtubs. But you can also use a drain filter that is designed to collect hair build-up, and you can throw it away in a bin and reuse it again. Saving you a lot of time and money.

If you have kids, teach them how much toilet paper they should be using and what items don’t belong in the toilet.

3. Check for Leakages

Summer is a great time to check any leakages in your home. Usually, it’s preferred to check and look after any leakages over the course of winter. Inspect water spigots outside of your home. Inside the spigots, check faucets, showerheads, and pipes under the sinks for leakages.

Another sign of leakages can be the rust on pipes and moisture build-up inside the cabinets. Check all the toilets in your home for leaks. If toilet leaks occur, most of the leaks can be fixed easily; however, if you’re not comfortable in your plumbing capabilities, call a professional plumber Hamilton.

4. Inspect Hot Water Systems

Many people are unaware that they have a hot water heating system in their houses until they wake up one day with no hot water. In most Waikato homes, the hot water heating system is fitted near the bathroom, laundry, or kitchen to minimize heat loss through the pipes. So you can use the hot water efficiently for basic needs.

Carefully take your time to check the pipes of the hot water systems for any rust or erosion building on them. Check for water leaks as well. Your hot water system should be able to last for 10 to 15 years. To make it last for a long time, make sure to maintain it regularly.
